Gardening

12 March 2006

The summum of happiness: the first time you venture into your garden in springtime to rake the leaves, pluck the twigs and cut the branches, enjoying the fresh, crisp air and feeling the first, warm, tingling rays of sun on your face. Maybe you'll never experience this or don't know what the heck I'm talking about, but if you've ever had a garden or grown up with one, you'll be able to relate to what I jsut said. Unless of course you have "rake the leaves and/or grass" trauma from early or late childhood ;-).

Anyways, the whole family ventured outside yesterday to do just this: preparing the garden for springtime. Besides the fact that it calmed down the wound up kids ("this is actually fun daddy" - quote Casper), they actually enjoyed helping ("we are working class men, working hard and well" - quote Casper and Robin) and were very busy doing their part. Robin then stayed out half an hour more playing in the sandbox.

Sitting on the sofa afterwards I could see two red noses and blossomy, red cheeks, both kids quite content. See what I mean with the summum of happiness?

Yup, THAT'S what I still miss in my life, our garden in our last house with the strawberries, apples, cherries etc etc....and the pond, dug out by Sebastiaan...sometimes it does hurt a bit, still..

Dude, it's frigging cold. I was freezing my nuts of this morning and afternoon on the commute to the train station.

I got my mobile back! Someone found it and called the "thuis" number.
